Eyvonne Olson • 1936 - 2006 Eyvonne Louise Legg was born on February 21, 1936, the daughter of Edward R. and Louise M. (Carvell) Legg in Washburn, ND. She and her family had lived in various towns in North Dakota throughout her younger years, due to her father's employment with the railroad. She graduated from Velva High School in 1954. Following her high school graduation, she married Arden Olson on June 6, 1954, in Velva, ND. They made their home in Tacoma, WA, for a short time, before returning to North Dakota. They then made their home in Harvey, ND. From this marriage, came her greatest love of her life, her two children, Karen and Keith. Eyvonne and her children, moved to Velva, ND, in 1969, where she was employed at the Star Lanes Cafe as a cook. She also worked as a housekeeper at the Kozy Motel in Velva, and also had a babysitting service in her home for some of the area families. Most recently, she was employed at the Souris Valley Care Center, Velva, as a cook. She retired in 1998. She continued to reside in Velva, and entered the Souris Valley Care Center in June of 2006. She was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church of Velva, the Velva Senior Citizens, and the Velva American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed being with family and friends, baking & cooking for everyone, and playing cards. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Eyvonne was a woman who taught her children that "It is always better to give than to receive." She worked hard all her life and enjoyed the simple things of life. Moments with her children and grandchildren were always cherished. When family pets would come, there was always a hug for them as well. Eyvonne carried a great love for her God. Surviving family includes: daughter, Karen Holte and long time companion, Mike Durham, Watford City, ND; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Deborah Olson, Harvey, ND; grandchildren, Shawn Olson, Harvey, ND, and Samantha Olson, Fargo, ND; and Landon Holte and his, fiance', Kirsten Wilson, of Fort Peck, MT; and Casey (Paula) Holte of Mandan, ND; sister, Denise (Roger) Hillerud, Golden Valley, ND; brother, David (Barb) Legg, Velva; two nieces, three nephews and numerous cousins and many special friends. Eyvonne was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. Memorial Service: Thursday, December 14, 2006, at 11:00
