Erling Oscar Olson • 1939 - 2004 Erling Oscar Olson, 65, Norwich, died Tuesday, September 28,
2004, at his home of pancreatic cancer. He married Sharon Kaye Olson on July 22, 1961, at First Lutheran Church, Granville. The couple lived in Minot for a short time before moving to Norwich. Erling worked construction for a few of years as a heavy equipment operator, then at Fargo Glass in Minot where he drove truck and later Kmart in Minot where he worked for over 30 years. While working for Kmart, Erling owned and operated a company that delivered appliance and other merchandise, for the Minot Kmart Store. His most recent job was working at Menards in Minot until his health forced him to retire. Erling loved working at Menards and missed his fellow employees and customers. He was a jack-of-all-trades there wasn't anything he couldn't fix or do. He loved the outdoors, working with wood, hunting, processing meat and was always available when a friend or a neighbor was in need. He was a member of Norwich Lutheran Church and Constable of Norwich Township for a number of years. Survivors: wife of 43 years, Sharon, Norwich; son, Brett Erling (Jackie) Olson, Mandan, ND; daughter, Kathy LaRae (Les) Kern, Bismarck, ND and Darcy Lynn (Jay) Svaleson, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Joshua and Kirsten Svaleson, Kade and Amanda Olson, and Dylan and Bryce Kern; brother, Carl (Melba) Olson, Velva, ND; sister, Margaret (Don) Miller, Spokane, WA. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Diane Lou Olson, his parents, Edwin and Elizabeth and sister, Juanita Hanson. Funeral Service: Saturday, October 2, 2004, at 11 a.m.
at Norwich Lutheran Church, Norwich. Burial: Granville Lutheran Cemetery, Granville, ND.
