Doris Olson 1913 - 2009 Doris Hansen was born on December 13, 1913, a daughter of Hans and Hilma (Swenson) Hansen in Dawson, MN. She was baptized at Elmdale Lutheran Church, Niobe and attended school through the eight grade at Westminister School in Northstar Township. As a young lady, Doris worked for various Bowbells households, including Violet Wiper and Mildred Peterson as a housekeeper. On April 23, 1933, she was united in marriage to Carl E. Olson, at the home of her parents in Northstar Township. They made their home in Northstar Township. Carl passed away in December of 1960. In 1961, she moved into Bowbells, where she had many wonderful neighbors, always willing to give Doris a helping hand. Doris continued to live in Bowbells until July of 2001 when she entered Manorcare Health Services, transferring in October to the Kenmare Hospital, where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bowbells and the ladies group. Doris enjoyed Baking, embroidering, working with flowers, attending grandchildren's school and 4-H activities. Those who shared her life: Son; Wayne (Clara) Olson; daughter: Colleen (special friend David Bird) Durward; eight grandchildren: Jodi, Janelle, Jamie, Jacqueline, Joy, Darris, Randy and Jeffrey; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law: Jack Walker; numerous nieces, nephews and many, many cousins. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her siblings brother Wallace Hansen, sisters: Loraine Freed, Myrtle Walker; half brother Gust Johnson; half sister: Jenny (Johnson) Friberg and one great-grandchild. Visitation: Monday, March 2, 2009 from 4:30 until 6 pm at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bowbells Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 11am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bowbells, ND. Burial: Will take place in the spring of 2009 at Bowbells Community Cemetery, Bowbells. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bowbells Officiant: Rev. Mary Strom Music Honorary Bearers: Doris' family and friends Active Bearers: Darris Olson, Randy Olson, Jeffrey Olson, Loren Peterson, E.J. Carrier, Todd Miller, Chad Staton, Robby Smith Immediately following the funeral service there will be a time of lunch and fellowship in the fellowship hall of the church. The graveside service will take place at a later time in the spring of 2009. The Doris' family would like to thank everyone for the many
