Valora L. Okland • 1921 - 2010 Valora Ennis was born on September 16, 1921, a daughter of Cloney and Laura (Boelter) Ennis in Montpelier, ND. She was raised on the family farm, and graduated from Montpelier High School. She furthered her education obtaining a degree from the Central Dakota Commercial College in Jamestown, ND. Following her graduation, she was employed by the California Container Corporation. On November 15, 1943, she was united in marriage to Arthur R. Okland in Canton, IL. Following Arthur’s discharge from the service, they made their home in Watford City, ND. In 1969, they moved to Minot, where Valora was employed by Ellison’s Department Store. Arthur died April 7, 1996. Valora continued to live in Minot, until 2007, when she moved to Fieldstone Village Senior Apartments in Fargo, to be closer to family. She was a charter member of the Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot. She became an associate member when she moved to Fargo, and joined the Living Waters Lutheran Church. Valora’s enjoyment in life was her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She enjoyed visiting with her new friends in Fargo and missed her many friends in Minot. Those most honored to share in her life: Daughters: Carole (Lyle) Lee, Devils, Lake, ND, Judith (Wayne) Wahl, Fargo, ND, Eileen Findlay, Owatonna, MN and Joann Wenzel, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: David (Amy) Wahl and their children Sophia, Quinn and Sophie; Todd Wahl and his children Jarett and Sarah;, Michelle (Steve) Carroll and their children Hannah, Emma and Ava; Tera Wenzel, Kimberly Wahl and her children Malcom, Isabella and Olivia; Michael (LeNae)Lee and their children Collin and Greta, Nicole Findlay, Shawna (Daniel) Guinn and their daughter Dora; Tawnya (Mark) Follingstad and their children Jonah and Henry; Melissa Lee and Trisha (Shaun) Gould and their children Mason and Lexi; brother: Irvin (Bev) Ennis, Jamestown, ND; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Valora was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, brother Donald, sister Elaine, great grandsons Hunter Wahl and Anthony Gould. Visitation: Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 9 am until 11 am at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Friends may join the family at 12:15 for a time of conversation at the Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot. Graveside service: A private graveside service will be held at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Officiants: Rev. Corey Fuhrman and Rev. Jeff Hoverson Honorary Bearers: David Wahl, Daniel Guinn, Steve Carroll Active Bearers: Todd Wahl, Michael Lee, Shaun Gould, Mark Follingstad Immediately following the graveside service, everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship at the Bread of Life Lutheran Church, located at 1415 17th Ave SW, in Minot. The Okland family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
