Bernice "Bea"
Nybakken 1919 - 2004 Bernice "Bea" Nybakken, 85, 1900 28th St. SW, Minot, ND, died Friday, September 24, 2004, in a Minot Hospital. Bea was born on June 7, 1919 the daughter of Archie and Alma (Anderson) Peterson. She was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1937. Bernice married Alfred Nybakken on February 22, 1939 in Minot, ND, where they since have lived. Al owned and operated Nybakken Body Shop in Minot. After his retirement in 1975, they spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona for many years. Al died on October 27, 2001. For the last three years she has been living at Somerset Court in Minot. Bea was a Cub Scout Den Mother and received from Lincoln School a lifetime membership in the PTA. Bea was active in the Democrat- NPL Party for many years and served as president of the 5th district Democrat-NPL Women's Club when it reorganized in 1972. She also was a Red Cross Grey Lady at the Veteran's Hospital in Minot. Bea was active in bowling leagues for many years and was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Minot and the Minot Shrine Auxiliary. For the last several years she followed the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Gayle) Nybakken, Hixson, TN, Bruce (Barbara) Nybakken and Jack (Colette) Nybakken, all of Minot; seven grandchildren, Kevin, Craig, Kirk, Nancy, Brekka, Blake and Gabe; and two great-grandchildren, Haley Mae and Emma Jean; sister, Donna Haught, Cadiz, Ohio She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Nybakken; parents, Archie and Alma Peterson and brother, Donald "Archie" Peterson. Funeral: First Lutheran Church, Minot, ND, on Monday, September 27, 2004 at 2 p.m. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND Visitation: Sunday, September 26, 2004 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church Radio Fund,
