Bernice R. Novak 1929 - 2008 Bernice R. Dostert was born September 24, 1929 on the family farm near Burlington, ND, the daughter of Anthony N. and Rosena (Schmitz) Dostert. She was raised and educated in that area and graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1947 as Valedictorian. She attended Minot State Teachers College. Bernice worked as a bookkeeper at White's Ice Cream, Westland Oil Company and Farmers Union Elevator, all in Minot. On February 23, 1974, Bernice married Richard Novak in Minot, ND. They made their home on the farm southwest of Minot. Bernice shared in the responsibility of caring for her elderly mother until her mother's death. Bernice enjoyed entertaining and cooking for large groups of friends and relatives. She also "Rescued" many dolls from second hand stores, cleaning them up and often crocheting new clothing for them. She has over 100 dolls in her collection. Bernice was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and was a social member of the Bohemian Lodge, both in Minot. Those who shared in her life, loving husband, Richard, Minot; brothers, Joseph and Raymond Dostert, both in Minot and Edwin Dostert, Burlington; sisters, Anna Schan, Minot, Catherine Opland, Des Moines, WA, Irene Dostert, Minot and Patricia Lesmeister, Surrey; numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony N. and Rosena Dostert; brother, Anthony B. Dostert; sister, Frances Price. Funeral: Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation will be Monday, October 20, 2008 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
