Joyce Nordwall 1939 - 2006

Joyce Nordwall, 66, 505 E Central Ave., Minot, died Monday, January 9, 2006 in her home.

Joyce was born on November 19, 1939 in Makoti, ND, the daughter of Jack and Esther (Alexander) Downie. She was raised and educated in Makoti, ND graduating high school in 1957. Joyce was once married to Carl Nordwall, from Douglas, ND whom she married on October 11, 1957. Through the years, Joyce lived in various states and was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She moved to Minot in 1976, where she first worked at Coca-Cola. In March of 1982, Joyce started working at Minot Steam Laundry and Dry Cleaners and later Bray's Laundry and Cleaners where she served as branch manager of Bray's Laundry at Minot Air Force Base until September of 1998. In 1989, Joyce met Bill Harvey, with whom she spent her life until his death in 2002. Shortly before her retirement, she worked part-time at Gladys' Restaurant.

Joyce enjoyed fishing and camping, reading, gardening, and bird watching. Most of all, she enjoyed her family and friends. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors: Sons: Thomas (Charla) Nordwall, Minot and Clay Nordwall, LasCruces, New Mexico; daughter, Judith (Dan) Carter, Christiansburg, VA and Jill Harvey (David Maskey), Minot; 11 grandchildren, Charles Ellis and Nellie Nordwall, Austin, Amber, Haley, and Hunter Davis, Heather and Cody Nordwall, Brandon, Blake and Brook Harvey; two great-grandchildren, Zell Harvey and Devon Davis-Stewart; Sisters, Delores (Dale) Zieman, Lakeland, Flordia, Connie Treiber, Richardton, ND and Lois Wolf, Minot, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn Harvey, brothers, Tommy Downie, Darold Downie and Jackie Downie; sisters, Doris Barta, Janice Larson and Diana Kolden and companion Bill Harvey.

Memorial Service: Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 11 a.m.

Burial: Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Makoti, ND on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 2 p.m.

Visitation: On Saturday, January 14, 2006 from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorials are preferred to Jill Harvey and family, 2107 6th St. NW, Minot, ND
