Virgil LeRoy Nordstrom
1928 - 2002 Virgil LeRoy Nordstrom, 73, Minot, formerly of Kenmare, ND, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in a Minot Nursing Home. Virgil was born July 11, 1928, in Coulee, ND, the son of Carl and Fern (Knower) Nordstrom. He attended school in Donnybrook and graduated from Donnybrook High School. He was confirmed in Hope Lutheran Church in Coulee. Following graduation he entered the Army and served in the Korean War. He was trained in radio repair at Camp Gordon, Georgia. While in Korea, he was stationed with I Corp R and M Company 51st Signal Battalion, Kmaksan, Korea. He was discharged on December 15, 1954. Upon returning home, he gained employment with the United States Postal Service in Seattle, WA, where he lived and retired after 30 years of service. He returned to the Kenmare area where he cared for his mother until her passing. He enjoyed his many pets, hunting and fishing with his friends. He also enjoyed carpentry as a pass time. Due to health reasons, he entered the Baptist Home in Kenmare in the summer of 2000 and most recently he entered Manor Care in Minot. Virgil was a member of the American Legion in Kenmare for 50+ years and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors: Sister, Faye Johnson and husband William, Trenton, AL, and two nieces, Kristi and Jill. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation: Saturday, June 15, 2002 from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND. Burial will
