Duane L. "Dewey"
Newell • 1939 - 2008 Duane was born October 9, 1939, in Fargo, ND to Fay and Hannah (Suchor) Newell. He grew up and attended school in Towner, ND. In 1956 he joined the Air Force. Following his honorable discharge he remained a member of the National Guard for 28 years, while working for several companies, including aircraft maintenance as a mechanic. He moved to Great Falls in the early 1960's. Dewey loved the outdoors. As he was growing up in Towner he liked to trap, hunt and fish along the Mouse River. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Shawna (Dodson) Cox, Caleb Dodson, and Tara (Dodson) Worden, all of Gillette, WY, and fished many tournaments with his granddaughter, Travia Banger of Great Falls, fishing with her at the Walleye Kids Camp. Duane was active in the camp by sharing his love of fishing with the kids in the community. He also supported Travia in her soccer, volleyball and baton twirling. Those who shared in his life, longtime companion, Liesal Dodson of Great Falls; her son and daughter-in-law, Jim (Aubrey) Dodson of Gillette, WY; her daughter, Anita Banger of Great Falls, a son, Ron Bowler, his two son's Ethan and Devin of Long Beach, CA, a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa (Steve) Silva and her sons, Bryan and Gregory of Lakeville, MA; a sister and brother-in-law, Darlene (Dean) Solberg of Minot; nieces, Donna Marcy, Cheryl Haas, both of Minot, Deb Sebastian, Hazen, ND; three nephews, Terry Solberg, Minneapolis, MN, Mark Solberg, Coon Rapids, MN and Jim Solberg of Buffalo, WY; one aunt, Elizabeth Schmidt of Minot and several cousins. Duane was preceded in death by his father, Fay B. Newell; mother, Hannah (Suchor) Newell; a cousin Cecilia Laughlin and several aunts and uncles. Graveside service: Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 10:00

Duane
L. "Dewey" Newell, 68, Great Falls, MT, formerly of
Towner, ND, a retired Air Force and Montana National Guard Veteran,
who enjoyed the outdoors especially walleye fishing, died Friday,
February 8, 2008 in his camper at Lake Elwell while ice fishing
of undetermined natural causes. A memorial service was held at
Hillcrest Lawn Chapel on February 14, 2008 in Great Falls.
