Paul Nett 1916 - 2007 Paul was born on May 13, 1916, on the family farmstead near Foxholm, ND, the son of Andrew and Anna (Backes) Nett. He was reared and educated at the Barney Google School, and in his youth played trumpet with the Nett Family Band. Paul entered the United States Army on May 21, 1942, serving as a squad leader supervising firing and gun maintenance in the European Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged on October 28, 1945. After his discharge he returned to the family farm in North Dakota where he assisted his family for a short time before moving to Tolley, ND. While living in Tolley, Paul worked at the Tolley bar which he later purchased. On November 27, 1945, in Tolley, Paul was united in marriage to Eileen Theusch. The couple owned and operated the Tolley Bar for 12 years. In 1957, they moved to Minot where they owned and operated the Courtesy Court Motel and rented out the bar in Tolley. In 1977, they retired. During retirement Paul and Eileen enjoyed traveling especially to Arizona in the winter months and in the summer months to their lake cabin on Sakakawea. Paul was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, Eagle Aerie, the Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus and the Minot American Legion. Paul loved fishing, camping, and challenging his grandchildren at cards games and pool. He enjoyed keeping busy and was always tinkering with numerous projects. Kevin Nett, Jennifer (Corey) Erickson, Shannon (Brad) Moberg,
Austin (Heidi) Adams, and Brandon, Ashley, Alysha and Dustin
Bartsch; 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews
and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandson,
Zachary Quern and eight brothers and sisters, Irene Dufner, Clara
Phillips, Katie Hensen, John Nett, Susie Jevne, Ben and Joe Nett.
