Mary Nesdahl, 89, Minot, died Monday, November 30, 2009 in a Minot nursing home.

Mary L. Christensen was born on April 15, 1920, a daughter of Christ P. and Johanne (Sorensen) Christensen in Foxholm, ND. Mary was baptized on June 20, 1920 at First Lutheran Church in Minot and was raised in the Foxholm area, where she attended school.

On August 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Joseph N. Nesdahl in Sidney, MT, and to this union two children were born, Norman and JoAnn.

Mary was no stranger to hard work. As a young woman, she worked various jobs including Trinity Hospital and Woolworths, but found her life-long vocation as a seamstress, specializing in draperies. She began this career at I. Keating's Furniture, and then worked for Margaret's Draperies, until finally starting her own business. She was a very highly sought after seamstress. Cleanliness and perfection were her ideal. Her home was always in perfect order and so clean you could eat off the floor. Mary enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was a masterful cook who specialized in her husbands favorite Norwegian old country dishes. Joseph died September 24, 1996. She continued to live in Minot.

Mary was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Mary would always be there to help anyone out who needed assistance. She will be greatly missed

Surviving relatives include: Brother Clarence Christensen, Morgan City, LA; sisters Edna (Nick) Lester, Tacoma, WA, Rose May (Maynard) Svor, Renton, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
