Lloyd C. Nelson 1919 - 2003 Lloyd C. Nelson, 84, Minot, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003 in a Minot hospital. He was born March 6, 1919, in Dogden, ND, now known as Butte. He was the son of John T. and Christina Nelson. He was reared and educated in Butte. On May 21, 1938, he married Clarice Corum in Turtle Lake. They farmed North of Turtle Lake until 1960, when they moved to Minot. He worked as a salesman in retail stores for a time and later worked for the Peavy Flour Mill, until it burned down, and then went to work for the Peavy Elevator. He semi-retired in 1977, to take care of this wife, Clarice, who passed away on September 1, 1978. Lloyd continued living in Minot. On November 22, 1984, he married Evelyn Freeberg in Minot. They lived in Minot and Mercer throughout their marriage. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and was employed there as a maintenance man for a time. Lloyd loved music and played the accordion in the Blue Jays Band, a band that played at local clubs and also traveled around the state. Survivors: son, Mitchell Nelson, Minot; wife, Evelyn Freeberg Nelson, Mercer; step-son, Robert Freeberg, Grand Forks; step-daughters, Connie Gonser, Fargo, Lynn VanVleet, Surrey, Pam Lill, Mercer and Beth Anderson, Turtle Lake; four grandchildren, Kim Rudrud, Tammy Zigrang, Todd Lakoduk and Jay Lakoduk; five great-grandchildren 10 step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clarice, parents, daughter, Audrey Lakoduk, brothers, Arthur, George, Wallace and Harry Nelson and sister, Cecelia Linn. Funeral: Monday, September 8, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Saturday and Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
