Edwin J. Nelson 1939 - 2004 Edwin J. Nelson, 65, Towner, ND, died Friday, November 5, 2004, at a Minot hospital. Edwin was born on August 21, 1939, at St. Francis hospital in Breckenridge, MN, the son of William and Cecelia (Spaulding) Nelson. He was reared and educated in Minot and graduated from St. Leo's Catholic High School in 1957. Edwin entered the United States Army in 1957 and continued to serve with the Army National Guard until 1963, when he was honorably discharged. In 1961, Edwin went to work for Beeline in Minot, where he worked on trucks and school busses as an alignment specialist until they closed. On July 7, 1973, he married Jean Bjugstad. In 1986, he worked as a truck tire retreader for various companies in Minot until the end of March of 2004. In 1990, Edwin and Jean moved to the Granville / Towner area. He most recently worked for the City of Granville. He was once married to Roxy Kinyon and they had one son together Toby. Edwin was a member of the NoDak Race Club in Minot from 1960 to the 1970's. He loved working on small engines, racing especially sprint cars and haying in the summer with the Tonnessen's. Survivors: wife, Jean, Towner; son, Toby and his wife Beth, Minot. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Cecelia Nelson.
