Dorothy Nelson 1928 - 2011 Dorothy Virginia Lee was born May 10, 1928, a daughter of Palmer Lee and Helen (Byers) Lee, in Powers Lake, ND. She was raised on the family farm, located SW of Lignite, ND, and attended grades one through eight in Lignite. As a young adult, she helped her father with the operation of the family farm as well as caring for her younger siblings. Dorothy married Leo Bergstreser in July of 1948. They made their home in Flaxton, ND. From this union a daughter, Donna, was born. Leo passed away in 1952. On December 12, 1955, Dorothy married Clifford Nelson. They made their home on a farm north of Flaxton. From this union, five children were born: Deby, David, Lori, Randy, and Robin. Clifford passed away in 1987. She lived in Flaxton, ND, and Lignite, ND, for most of her life, and in 2008, she moved into the Baptist Home in Kenmare. In May of 2011, she moved into ManorCare Health Services in Minot. Dorothy was known as a hard worker, and was willing to help anyone. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed canning. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving family includes: children, Donna Weigel, Minot, Deby (Murray) Arnold, North Portal, Sask., Canada, David Nelson, Crosby, Lori (Tim) Bakke, Crosby, Randy Nelson, Flaxton, and Robin (Terry) Fleck, Steelman, Sask., Canada; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; sisters, Lois Rasey, Portland, OR, and Evonne Geary, Lewiston, MT; two half sisters, Alice Iverson, Tioga, and Dorothy Mae Hartman, Elk Heart, IN; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
