Paul M. Nason, Jr. 1936 - 2005

Paul M. Nason, Jr., 68, Minot, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in a Minot hospital.

Paul was born July 6, 1936, in North Conway, New Hampshire, the son of Clayton and June Thurston. He was raised and educated in North Conway and graduated from high school in 1954.

On July 1, 1954 Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force. On October 27, 1956 he married Naoma Jean Grubb. During his Air Force career he was stationed at Westover Air Force Base, Massachusetts, Goose Bay, Labrador, Kadena, Okinawa, McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas, and back to Kadena, Okinawa, and then to the Minot Air Force Base, where he retired in October of 1976.

Paul and Naoma then moved to Sanford, Maine, where he worked for Cyro Industries until retirement. In the late 80's the couple moved back to Minot to be near family.

Paul was a life-member of the National Rifle Association and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors: Wife, Naoma Jean Nason, Minot; children, Jackie (Wesley) Brandt, Minot, Michael (Donna) Nason, Mandan, and Millie (Edward) McParlin, Leesburg, FL; seven grandchildren, Paul Nason, Sarah and Joe Rothschiller, Virginia Goodwin, Shelly Brandt, Alan Brandt and Wesley Brandt, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Goodwin, Tamara Brandt, Sarah Brandt, Aiyanna Fuller and Hannah Brandt; half-brother, Clayton Thurston, Knoxville, TN, and half-sister, Judy , New England; several nieces and nephews survive.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, and one grandson, Jeremy Nason.

Funeral: Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 10:30 a.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Burial: Thursday at 3:00 p.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
