Berliot "Billie"
Munson 1921 - 2009 Billie was born on June 30, 1921, in Fort Ransom, the daughter of Olaf and Borghild (Nelson) Moen. She lived in Fort Ransom until the age of 7 when she moved with her family to the Minot area, where she attended country school. She worked for Sweetheart Bakery in Minot for several years before moving to Tacoma, Wash., where she worked as a welder for the Todd Pacific Shipyard during World War II. Billie was united in marriage to Arthur Munson on March 8, 1947, in Sidney, Mont. The couple made their home in Minot, where they raised their five children. Art died on Jan. 12, 1984, in Minot. Billie was a member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, rural Minot, and later Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot, where she taught Bible school and Sunday school. She was also a member of the Naomi Circle and the church choir at Augustana. Survivors: children, Elden Munson and his wife, Brenda, Linda Lang and her husband, Dennis, Beverly Selmek and her partner, Pat Geary, Nancy Gangl and Mark Munson, all of Minot; grandchildren, Dawn Heskin and her husband, Dennis, Hatton, Scott Schorr, Minnetonka, Minn., Mickey Munson and his wife, Sara, of Thompson, Amanda Brekhus and her husband, Scott, Cheyenne, Wyo., Travis Lang and his companion, Terra Jesch, and Jaimie Gangl, all of Minot; great-grandchildren, Alexis Tossett, Wyatt Heskin, Brittney, Bailey and Kasey Munson, and Emma, Addyson and Hunter Brekhus, McKenna Lang; brothers, Melvin Moen (Veronica), Riverton, Wyo., and Arne Moen, Coram, Mont.; sisters, Ida Heller (Joy), Berthold, Florence Kennedy (Hugh), Cheyenne, and Esther Lemons (Jim), Klawock, Alaska; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art; parents; brothers, George Moen and Herbert and his wife, Peggy; and sisters, Ella Hendrickson, Evelyn Grabow, Lilly Heller and Olga Heller. Funeral service: Friday, March 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Thursday, March 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
