Elizabeth "Betty" J. Morrison-Burgard PhotoElizabeth J. Morrison-Burgard, 70, Minot, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in a Bismarck hospital, after a long battle with cancer. 

Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Deibert was born February 2, 1941, in Minot, ND, to Frank and Rose (Dexheimer) Deibert.  She was raised on the family farm near Granville, ND, and  helped her parents and brothers with the farm work, while growing up .  Betty graduated from Granville High School and then attended Minot Business College.

On June 18, 1963, Betty married Robert Morrison in Velva, ND.  Following their marriage they made their home in Minot.  Betty worked at Westland Oil for over 33 years as an office manager.  She then worked as a secretary for the Minot Public School System for 14 years, until she retired in 2005.  Robert passed away on August 9, 2000.

Betty married Richard Burgard on June 26, 2004.  Together they were members and enjoyed dancing with the Northwest Polkateers.  She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot, and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.  Betty was also a member of Women of the Moose.

Betty was a kind-hearted lady who always looked out for others, before herself.  She loved her family and was proud of all her grandchildren.  She was a great cook, and she loved to bake and garden. 

Those who shared in her life, Husband, Richard, Minot; stepsons, Randy (Julie) Burgard, Bismarck, ND, and Rodney (Nancy) Burgard, Minot; grandchildren, Kristina (Chris) Anthony, Tia-Lee (Jason) Whitted, Taylor and Kaden Burgard, Alec, Carlie and Erin Burgard; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kimber, Trey and Rayan; mother, Rose Deibert, Velva, ND; brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Deibert, Minot, and John (Betty) Deibert, Dewey, AZ; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Morrison; son, Paul Morrison and her father, Frank Deibert.    

Funeral: Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot, ND.

Visitation and vigil prayer service:  Visitation Monday, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial:  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
