Peter F. Miller • 1924 - 2008 He was born on August 23, 1924 in Orrin, ND a son of Conrad and Aloisia (Black) Miller. He was raised in the Orrin area and attended school in Sandale Township. After school, he helped farm and ranch the family farm. On June 24, 1947 in Fulda, ND, he married Theresa B. Burckhard. The couple moved to Bergen, ND, in October of 1947 where Peter farmed until 1978, when he moved to Minot. While continuing his farm operation, he went to work for the Verendrye Power Plant in 1950 and then worked for McHenry County as a blade operator and maintainer operator from 1952 until 1972. In 1973, he went to work for Gravel Products for six years before working for Bechtold Excavating for eight years. He also was a blade operator in the Beulah Coal Mines until he retired in 1992. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot where he was active in numerous church activities. He was also a former member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Karlsruhe, ND. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles Aerie #2376 and the Moose Lodge. He loved to dance, especially the polka, and enjoyed playing pinochle. Peter is survived by his wife of over 60 years Theresa, Minot; sons Ronald (Jean) Miller, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Richard (Kelly) Miller, Voltaire, ND, Donald (Diane) Miller, Minot, and Marvin (Mona) Miller, Velva, ND; daughters, Karen (William) Watson, Sun City, AZ, Janice (Pat) Miller, Minot, Marilyn (Marlin) Schiele, Minot, and Sherrie (Bruce) Leier, Velva; grandchildren, Katie (Ardean) Schill, Dana (Tina) Miller, Laura (Dean) Forbes, Bob (Tiffany) Miller, Wendy (Mike) Bishop, Deann (Dustin) Zaun, Brad (Brenda) Schiele, Steve Schiele, Kelli (Matt) Hillerud, Doug (Amy) Miller, Darren Miller, Dustin (Christy) Miller, Mike Miller, Jennifer Miller, Jonathan Miller, Nicole (Mike) Kaylor and Travis Leier; 15 great grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, one step-brother, two step-sisters and a step-mother. Funeral: Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Vigil Prayer Service: Friday, February 22, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Visitation: Friday, February 22, 2008 from noon until 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
