Margaret Miller 1933 - 2006

Margaret Miller, 73, Velva, formerly of Minot, ND and Spokane, WA, died Monday, November 20, 2006, in a Velva nursing home.

Margaret Elaine Olson was born on September 8, 1933, the daughter of Edwin and Elizabeth (Hurley) Olson in rural Norwich, ND. She was raised in the Granville area and educated at Kottke Valley Township School. She graduated from Granville High School in 1951. She then attended Minot Business College.

Margaret was married to Donald L. Miller on April 17, 1955, in Granville. They made their home in Minot, where she was employed at Magic City Lumber as a bookkeeper. They resided in Minot until the late 1960's when they moved to Spokane, WA. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Cavalar Lumber and Planing. She retired in 1998.

She was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Spokane, WA.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.

Surviving family includes: husband of 51 years, Don, Velva; brother, Carl (Melba) Olson, Velva; brother-in-law, Doran Hanson, Granville; sister-in-law, Sharon Olson, Norwich; and aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Juanita Hanson; and brother, Erling Olson.

Funeral: Friday, November 24, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Granville.

Interment: Granville Community Cemetery, Granville, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 am to noon at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Care Center, Velva, or the First Lutheran Church Handicapped Fund, Granville.
