Irene (Hanson) Miller 1919- 2010

Irene Miller PhotoIrene (Hanson) Miller, 91, Puyallup, WA, ND, formerly of Minot and Kenmare, ND, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in a Puyallup hospital.

Irene Alice Hanson was born July 22, 1919, a daughter of Thorvald and Catherine (Amrein) Hanson, in Kenmare, ND. She was raised on the family farm west of Burlington, where she assisted her parents with the operation of the family farm. As a young adult, she worked at the Ward County Independent, and continued working there until moving to Seattle, WA, in 1941.

Irene married John I. Miller July of 1946, in Tacoma, WA. They made their home in Seattle, WA, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Sears Roebuck for a number of years.
She later attained her GED in 1968. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Everett Community College in 1970.

John passed away December 22, 2006. She continued to reside in Seattle, WA, until July of 2009, at which time she moved to an assisted living facility in Puyallup, WA.

Surviving family includes:  son, Gary Miller, Puyallup, WA; grandchildren, Jeanelle Martin, and Kyle Miller; great-grandchildren, Caide Neff, Hannah Martin, Madison Martin, and Riley Stone; sister, Laverne Haugen, Des Lacs, ND; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hanson, Grand Rapids, MN,and numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter-in-law, Cindy Miller; grandson, Scott Miller; brothers, Roy, Clifford, Alfred, and Thorvald “Bud” Hanson; brother-in-law, Robert Haugen; niece, Pamela Hanson; and nephew, Jerome Haugen.

Funeral: Friday, October 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Interment:
  Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: 
Thursday one hour prior to the service at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Officiant: Chaplain Luther Hanson, Trinity Homes Chaplain
