Alvin Michael Miller 1927 - 2003

Alvin Michael Miller, 76, Foxholm, ND, died Friday, November 14, 2003, at his home.

He was born July 3, 1927, in Minot, ND, the son of Aloys and Ella (Hoerter) Miller. He was reared and educated in Foxholm and attended Minot Business College. Alvin entered the United States Navy on November 3, 1944, and served during WWII aboard the USS Lexington and on the USS Princeton during the Korean War. Alvin was honorably discharged on January 10, 1952. After returning from the Navy, Alvin worked for a short while for the United States Post Office in Minot.

Alvin attended Wahpeton School of Science where he became a certified plumber. He spent many years with Northern Improvement Company and was well known in Bismarck and Mandan for his work as a supervisor of road and parking lot construction, which included the parking lot for the Bismarck Civic Center.

Alvin was once married to Verlene Bouffleur from Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple had five children.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm.

Survivors: son, Steve, Minot; daughters, Deb Petry (Mac), Bismarck, Shelli Dockter (Bill), Foxholm, and Denise Jost (Brian), Burlington; 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild, two sisters, Connie Stammen, Minot and Myrna Messer (Ray), Derby, KS; brother, Francis Miller, Burlington; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael, granddaughter, Lisa Miller, parents, brothers, Ralph and Harold Miller and his sister, Evelyn Haider.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Foxholm.

Rosary Recitation and Prayer Service: Monday, November 17, 2003, at 7 p.m. at the church.

Visitation: Monday, November 17, 2003 from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Foxholm.
