Freda C. Michalenko 1918 - 2004 Freda C. Michalenko, 86, Minot died Wednesday, January 05, 2005, in a Minot hospital. She was born on July 4, 1918, in Harvey, ND, the daughter of Carl and Clara (Winter) Hahn. She was reared and educated in rural Anamoose, ND. Freda was united in marriage to John E. Michalenko on July 3, 1936, in Towner, ND. Following their marriage they lived in Kief area for a short time before moving to a farm in Cottonwood Township, McHenry County, north of Butte, ND, where they farmed until 1969. The couple moved to Minot after retiring from farming. John died on September 23, 1988, in Minot. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot and a former member of the Minot Senior Citizens. Freda liked spending time with her family. She enjoyed knitting, helping flowers grow, singing, living on the farm and all the animals. She is survived by her son, Darrell R. (Arlene) Michalenko; daughter, Janet F. (Chuck) Duke, all of Minot; 7 grandchildren, Steven Duke, Scott Duke, LaDonna Mosser, Stuart Duke, LeAnna Heupel, Brian Michalenko and Jennifer Michalenko; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, Carl and Clara Hahn, brothers, Reinhard and Alfred "Shorty" Hahn and sisters, Hildegard Stolt and Tillie Michalenko.
Visitation: Sunday, January 9, 2005, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Memorials preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
