Dorothy Melin 1927 - 2005 Dorothy Melin, 78, Minot, died Thursday, July 7, 2005 in a Minot Nursing Home. Dorothy was born on July 1, 1927, the daughter of Isaac and Gerturde (Schaner) on the family farm in Norma, ND. She was reared and educated in the area, attending the Salk Prairie Country School, rural Norma. Following school, she went to work for the Kenmare Deaconess Hospital as a nurse's aid, where she worked for a number of years, before moving to Minot, where she worked at Trinity Hospital, until ill health forced her to retire. Dorothy was a caregiver for her parents in their home for many years. When they passed away, she moved to Max for a time, before she entered Edgewood Vista. She lived there until she entered Trinity Homes in 2001, where she resided at the time of her death. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, and loved to read. She was like a mother to her nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a former member of the Church of the Nazarene, Norma, and attended church at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Max, ND. She is survived by: Her brother: Robert (Arvilla) Melin, Mohall: sisters; Winifred Gottschall, Minot, Josephine (Arlo) Larson, Seattle, WA; Helen Schock, Benedict; Joan Vedaa, Minot; Ellen (Gene) Bredahl, Berthold, ND,many nieces and nephews also survive. Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents, brother, Francis, sister, Anna Lee, brothers-in-law, Carl Schock, Carold Lee, Leroy Vedaa, John Gottschall, Murphy Clark, and a sister-in-law Doris May Melin. Visitation: Monday, July 11, 2005, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot Officiants: Rev.
