Melvin E. Mehlhoff 1922 - 2002

Melvin E. Mehlhoff, 79, 1541 1st. St. SE, Minot, died Thursday, May 23, 2002 in a Minot hospital.

Melvin was born August 14, 1922, near Tripp, SD, the son of Otto and Anna (Lagge) Mehlhoff. He was raised and educated in the Emmet, ND area. He married Hulda Weishaar on June 3, 1956, in Garrison, ND. He farmed and ranched in the Emmet and Ryder, ND areas his entire life. He retired and moved to Minot in 1990.

Melvin was a founding member of the Garrison Bible Church, where he served for many years as a member of the board. After moving to Minot, he was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors: wife, Hulda J. Mehlhoff, Minot; sons, Mark D. Mehlhoff, Fargo, ND, and Donovan W. Mehlhoff and his wife Tracy, St. Helens, OR; daughter, Elizabeth A. Orton and her husband Kerry, Rochester, MN; five grandchildren, Sarah, Alexis and Emily Mehlhoff and Adam and Nicole Orton; brothers, Dale Mehlhoff, Burlington, ND and Rollin Mehlhoff and his wife Barbara, Bismarck, ND; sisters, Eldore Leier, Minot, Aldene Grindy, Gold Canyon, AZ, and Jean Ann Sneed and her husband Jack, Fargo. Numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law also service. His parents, daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Tompkins and Wade Tompkins, and one brother, Vilo Mehlhoff, preceded him in death.

Funeral: Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at 10:30 am at First Assembly of God Church, Minot, ND

Visitation: Sunday, May 26, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, May 27, 2002, from noon until 4:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
