Hilda Johanna McLean • 1926 - 2008 Hilda was born on July 11, 1926, in Omemee, ND, the daughter of Carl and Christiana (Heinbush) Ziemann. She complete six years of schooling before starting work as a domestic helper in the area. From 1950 to 1953 Hilda worked for Joe and Mildred Galvin family of rural Maxbass, ND where she then met and later married the neighbor son Daniel McLean. Hilda and Daniel were married on November 7, 1953 in Bottineau,
ND. The couple had six children on the McLean homestead north
of Maxbass where they made their home from 1953 to 1964. The
McLeans spent a short time in Hope, ND, before moving to Finley,
ND in 1965, where Hilda raised her family and also worked at
the Air Force Base outside of town. They lived in Finley until
1979, when Hilda was transferred to Bremerton, WA, because the
Finley Air Force Base was closing. Hilda worked at Bremerton
Naval Hospital until her retirement in 1994. Upon retirement
Hilda and Daniel moved to Minot, ND. Daniel died on October 22,
2001. Hilda continued to live in Minot until her death. In her later years Hilda enjoyed visiting with friends and family, playing bingo, a good game of solitaire and long walks. Survivors: sons, Richard D. McLean, Minot and Timothy S. (Georgia) McLean, Hatton; daughters, Robyn L. (Micheal) Gatlin, Marysville, CA, Cindy J. (Rodney) Walcker, Finley, ND and Laurie A. (Timothy) Kramer, Oronoco, MN; eight grandchildren, Daniel R. Kramer, Brian T. Kramer, Jonathan M. Gatlin, Austin R. Walcker, Marcus A. McLean, Sarah J. Gatlin, Samuel J. McLean and Alexis M. McLean. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband Daniel, parents, Carl and Christiana, brothers, Edward, killed in WWII, Arthur and Sonny Ziemann; and sisters, Frieda Ziemann and Lillian Arneson. Funeral Service: Monday, April 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Dakota Baptist Church, Minot Visitation: Sunday, April 13, 2008, from Noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Burial will take place at 3 p.m. on Monday at Graceland Cemetery,
