Norma McIntyre 1924 - 2003
Norma McIntyre, 78, Minot, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at
a Velva nursing home.
She was born August 6, 1924, in Regan, ND, the daughter of Albert
and Zelda (Cook) Gray. She was reared and educated in North Dakota
and graduated from Bismarck High School.
She married Patrick McIntyre on November 30, 1944, in Bismarck.
The couple made their home in Wing, ND, and in 1956, moved to
Minot. Norma worked for Minot Paving Company Inc. for 32 years
retiring in January of 1990. Patrick died on May 29, 1983, in
Minot.
Norma joined TOPS where she discovered her love for collecting
pigs. She amassed an extensive collection. She also loved to
sew for her grandchildren, and owned the largest private collection
of unsown material in the state of North Dakota. Some of which
was antique polyester. Norma enjoyed shopping on QVC and she
was known as the queen of QVC. She had a strong faith and enjoyed
her bible study group. She enjoyed country music, especially
Vince Gill. Norma loved flowers, gardening, cooking with rhubarb,
buying clothes, watches, costume jewelry and angels.
Norma traveled a lot with her sister; Lorene and she spent all
her spare time with her kids and grandkids.
On July 1, 2000, Norma entered a Minot foster care home. In December
of 2002 she moved to the Souris Valley Care Center where she
lived until her death.
She was a member Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Bible Study,
Business Professional Women, TOPS, and AL-ANON, all of Minot.
A favorite quote of hers: "When I Grow Old I Shall Wear
Purple."
Survivors: sons, Martin McIntyre (Jane), Minot, Michael
McIntrye (Melissa), Williston; daughters, Patricia Swanson (Mark),
Bismarck, Margaret Hagel, Minot, Pamela Fredline (Danny), Gardnerville,
NV, and Gay Lynn (Gaylan) Olander, Minot; grandchildren, Rick
Hamberger, Janell Hamberger, Amy Hagel, Angela Galloway, Clancy
and Megan McIntyre, Ashley and Kayla Olander, Lindsey, Mercede
and Seirra McIntyre, Shad and Shauna Brink, and Danni and Darah
Fredline; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Quentin Gray (Anna
May), Wing, and Larry Gray (Jane) Clayton, CA; sister, Lorene
Goldsmith, Tuttle, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Patrick, parents, brothers Clarence and James Gray, four grandchildren,
Tanner McIntyre, Bradley Hedgecough and twins, Michael and Gerald
Hedgecough.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, May 24, 2003, at
1 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Prayer Service: Friday, May 23, 2003, at 7 p.m. at the
Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Visitation: Friday, May 23, 2003 from noon until 7 p.m.
at the funeral home.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
