Mable B. McConn, 82, 1828 9th St. SW, Minot, ND, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008, at her daughter's home, rural Larimore, ND, surrounded by her loving family.

Mable Balinda Narum was born January 19, 1926, to Knut Sr. and Pauline (Kampen) Narum at Spring Lake Township, Ward County, Douglas, ND. She was baptized and confirmed, a member of the Lutheran League, Lutheran Daughters Reformation, and singing groups at Trinity Lutheran Church, Douglas.

Mable attended Crystal Consolidated School in Rosemount Township and graduated from Douglas High School in 1944. She graduated with a Standard Diploma in Elementary Education in 1946 from Minot Teachers College and later received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Minot State College. She taught for 32 years in Glenburn, Stanley, Minot and Surrey. She was a member of the National Education Association, the International Reading Association, and active in the Young Authors Conferences held in Minot.

June 1, 1952, she married Charles L. "Red" McConn in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. They enjoyed many outdoor activities and were members of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. She was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church Altar Guild and served for 24 years.

Mable is survived by her husband, Charles McConn, Minot; daughter, Nancy (Steve) Burke, Larimore, ND; grandson, Erik Burke, Grand Forks, ND; brother, Karl Narum, Garrison, ND; sister, Alice (Anton) Jaeger, Minot; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nora and Cora; brothers, Ole and Leonard.

Funeral: Friday, December 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: Mable's family suggests memorial contributions be made to Altru Hospice in Grand Forks, ND, or Zion Lutheran Church, in Minot.
