Raenell Kathryn McClain
1916 - 2005 Raenell Kathryn McClain, 88, Minot, died Monday, January 31, 2005, in a Minot nursing home of Alzheimer's. She was born on June 20, 1916, in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Alfred and Florence (Rapp) Lentz. She was raised in the St. Paul area and attended the University of Minnesota. Raenell worked in the bookkeeping and accounting departments for 3M in Minnesota for almost 20 years. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Charles McClain on September 5, 1958. In 1961, the couple moved to Sawyer, ND, where they pastored the church and also served the Greatstone Township Baptist Church and the Benedict Methodist Church. In 1978, they moved to Bottineau, ND, to serve the First Baptist Church until they retired in 1983. Raenell served on the American Baptist Women's Mission Society and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Minot at the time of her death. She spent many hours reading to her grandchildren and attending their activities until her heath failed. She was a talented musician who played the piano, organ, and sang in the churches they served. She loved sewing, quilting and knitting. Raenell enjoyed entertaining guests and received many compliments on her cooking. Survivors: husband, Rev. Charles McClain, Minot; daughter, Elizabeth (Dennis) Roberts, Minot; grandchildren, Daniel, Aaron, Sarah, Elise, Matthew, Amy and Jesse Roberts all of Minot; mother-in-law, Helga McClain, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Shirley McClain, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, nephew, Charles Duffert, Little Rock, Arkansas. Funeral Service: Saturday, February 12, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot. Visitation: Friday, February 11, 2005, from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot Music: ongregational hymns, "Blessed Assurance"
