Dena Regina Mau • 1905 - 2002 Dena Regina Mau, 96, Kenmare, ND, formerly of Tolley, ND, died Friday, August 23, 2002 in the Kenmare Hospital. Dena was born on a farmstead near Lansford, ND, on November 3, 1905, to Henry and Mary (Morbeck) Savelkoul. She attended school in Lansford and completed the eighth grade. Following her schooling, she worked and helped on the family farm. She married Joe Zietz in April of 1923. Children of this marriage included Myrtle, Edwin, Mae, Maurine, Herman and Betty Lou. They lived and farmed in Clayton Township near Grano, ND. They later divorced. Following the end of the marriage, Dena worked at different jobs to maintain and support her family. In 1939, she moved with her family to Tolley, where she lived and worked. She met and married Wilhelm (Bill) Mau in 1941. Children of this marriage include Delores and Ernie. They lived and farmed near Tolley until her husband, Bill died in 1973. Dena remained living on the farm until 1993, when she moved to Kenmare. She lived in an apartment for a time, then moved to the Kenmare Assisted Living, and finally to the Kenmare Hospital, where she lived at the time of her death. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare, a former member and past president of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tolley, and was very active in the ladies aid in the church. Dena loved to crotchet, garden and tend to her flower garden. Her family was the most important aspect of her life. Survivors: three sons, Edwin (Thelma) Zietz, Brentwood, CA, Herman Zietz, Renton, WA, Ernie (Sharon) Mau, Tolley; three daughters, Maurine (LeRoy) Gravesen, Kenmare, Betty (Fergus) Norrie, Kenmare, and Delores Mau, Las Vegas, NV; 30 grandchildren; 74 great grandchildren; 38 great-great grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Schmitz, Kenmare, and Ethel Eamon, Lansford; numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, parents, two daughters, Myrtle Hamel and Mae Elwell, one sister, six brothers, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild preceded her in death. Funeral: Tuesday, August 27, 2002, 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare, ND. Rosary Recitation: Monday August 26, 2002, 7:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Visitation: Monday, August 26, 2002, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, and continuing at the church prior the prayer service. Burial: St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Tolley, ND
