Anna Mattison, 89, Minot, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 in a Minot hospital.

Anna Marie Eslinger was born on July 18, 1919, a daughter of Emanuel and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Eslinger in Garrison, ND. She was raised and educated in Coleharbor, ND.

On April 27, 1943, Anna was united in marriage to Clayton James Mattison in Detroit, MI. They made their home in Max, ND, before moving to Portal, ND in 1945. Anna worked as a food service, customer service employee. Clayton died September 16, 1978. Anna continued to live in Portal until 1996, when she moved to Minot, where she has since lived.

Anna was active with the Silver Haired Legislature, the Souris Basin Transport and the Burke County Historical Society.

Those Who Shared Her Life: Children: Karen Obegi, Minneapolis, MN, Gloria Maragos, Minot, Lois (Michael) Gustafson, Kindred, ND, Clayton James Grant (Brenda) Mattison, Anderson, SC, Mark A. (Ellen) Mattison, Minot, Lisa (Rick) Smith, Portal, ND; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brothers: Sam Eslinger and Art (Clarice) Eslinger, both of Garrison, ND and one sister Ida Narum, Glen Ullin, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons-in-law and twelve siblings.

Visitation: Friday, January 30, 2009, from noon until 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Saturday, January 31, 2009, 10:30 am at First Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial: Portal City Cemetery, Portal, ND in the spring of 2009.
