Valerie Ann Mattern • 1939 - 2004
Valerie was born October 24, 1944, in Noonan ND, to Floyd and Priscilla Altner. Valerie's parent's divorced and Priscilla married Kenneth Fagerland, together they raised Valerie. She was raised and educated in Noonan, ND, and graduated from Noonan High School in 1963. She married Ray Mattern May 9, 1965, at the Lutheran Church in Noonan. She was a waitress at the restaurant in the North Hill Bowl for 35 years. She loved bowling, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors: Husband, Ray, Minot; daughters, Tammy (Gary) Dunkel, Laurie (Kent) Larson, and Michelle (Paul) Bail, all Minot; 3 grandchildren; sisters, Kay Pick, Moosejaw, Sask, Pamela Fagerland, Belfield, ND; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Kenneth Fagerland. Funeral: Monday February 23, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot, ND. Visitation: Sunday, February 22, 2004, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. There will be no reviewal at the church prior to the service.
