Geneva B. Mathews • 1918 - 2002 Geneva B. Mathews, 84, Lansford, died Saturday, December 07, 2002, in a Minot nursing care facility. She was born on January 13, 1918, in Gates County, NC, the daughter of James and Geneva (Howell) Barnes. She was raised and attended country school in the Gates County area. She worked at various jobs for a time. She married Ronald Mathews on August 23, 1941, in Aydlette, NC. They moved to Richmond, VA, where she and her husband Ron, lived and raised their family. Geneva was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing and doing needlepoint in her spare time. Her husband, Ron died on March 30, 1989 in Richmond. She then moved to Lansford, ND, where her son Ronald Jr. and his family lived. She remained living in Lansford until recently when she moved into the nursing home in Minot. Survivors: son, Ronald Mathews, Jr. and his wife Gloria, Lansford; three grandchildren, Patty Mathews and Ronald Mathews III, both of Lansford, and Susan Pominichter and her husband, Ken, Niagara Falls, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, parents and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Memorial Service: A private family memorial service
will be held in North Carolina at a later date.
