Archie W. Matehs 1917 - 2005 Archie W. Matehs, 87, rural Newburg, was called to Eternity,
April 14, 2005 at Trinity Hospital in Minot. Archie and his brother Elmer Matehs took over the family farm in Pratt Township, McHenry County after the death of their father in June of 1946. They continued to farm together until Elmer's death on Friday, December 24, 1993. Archie put his crops in and harvested together with his brother Victor and family for many years. Archie loved fishing, and hunting, especially deer. He loved his farm animals and gave them a lot of tender loving care. He was a "true steward of the soil." He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Upham. Survivors: brother, Victor (Evelyn )Matehs, Upham, ND; one nephew, Kenneth (Sandy) Matehs, Upham; six nieces, Carolyn (Ed) Bean, Fargo, ND, Candace (Mike) Nelson, West Fargo, ND, Ethel (Merle) Peterson, Norwich, ND, Jeraldine (Myron) Stromberg, Minot, Phyllis (Bill) Howard, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Edith Stacho, Minot. Several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter (Lorraine) Matehs and Elmer Matehs, sister Emma (Ewalt) Wenzel. Funeral: Monday, April 18, 2005 at 10 a.m. in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Upham. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation: Sunday, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson
