Louise Marum 1919 - 2003

Louise Marum, 84, Minot, died Saturday, November 22, 2003, in a Minot nursing home.

She was born October 22, 1919 on the family farm in rural Glenburn, to Olie and Martha Thompson. She attended Glenburn School and graduated from there in 1937. Following school, she worked at the Renville County Courthouse. On November 6, 1939, she married Leonard "Shorty" Franklin Marum in Mohall. They lived in Landa, ND where Louise and Shorty ran the hotel and café. Over a period of 20 years, she worked as a bookkeeper in Glenburn at the John Deere Implement, Westhope Implement and Lansford Implement, which they owned for a few years. She also worked at the Sagsveen and Lee Implement in Lansford. From 1963-1966 and 1971-1975, Louise worked as a teller at the American Bank Exchange in Lansford. In 1976, Louise moved to Minot and worked at the El Greco Lounge until retiring in 1979. Her husband died November 23, 1964. In 1982, Louise moved to Mandan to be near her youngest daughter, Kathy and her family. Louise moved back to Minot in April of 2002 and resided at the Dakota Terrace Apartments until entering Trinity Nursing Home in October of 2003.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansford and the American Legion Auxiliary, Minot. She later joined Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Survivors: son, Tom Marum and his wife Sue, Miles City, MT; daughters, Marty Johnson and her husband Dan, Bottineau and Kathy Feil and her special friend, Ron Brandt, Fargo; grandchildren, Trudy Marum, Susan (Gary) Score, Bob (Jaque) Marum, Andy (Lisa) Marum, Jenny (Will) Moore, Blake Feil and Landon Feil; great-grandchildren Elle Score, Quincy Score, Braden Marum, Ashlyn Marum and two more due in 2004; brother, Lawrence (Opal) Thompson, Minot; sisters, Mae Olson, Minot and Pearl (Les) Christianson, Garrison and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Tilman Thompson and sister, Clara Griffin.

Funeral: Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Tuesday from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Trinity Hospice, Minot or the Anne Carlsen School for Children, Jamestown.
