Delbert J. "Del"
Marum 1926 - 2008 Delbert Joseph "Del" Marum was born November 2, 1926, a son of Arthur and Magdalena (Dahinden) Marum in Kenmare, ND. He was raised and educated in Glenburn, ND, and graduated from Glenburn High School. He was a great baseball player in his younger years. He and his brothers had played for Glenburn and Lansford. Delbert enlisted in the United States Navy November 17, 1944. He proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the Mobile Construction Battalion "Seabees". He was honorably discharged July 23, 1946. Following his honorable discharge, Del met and married Evelyn M. Pyne. They made their home in Minot. Del re-enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1949 and was called up to serve April 16, 1951, and served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged July 31, 1952. Del was employed by Red Owl Stores, Montgomery Ward, and then became the manager of Northwest Sporting Goods. He eventually became owner/vice President and was with the company for 29 years. From 1980 to 1985, Del became owner/operator of Athletic Attic along with his sons. Before retiring he worked for KG Men's Store and Schneider's Men's Store. Evelyn passed away February 18, 1988. He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, VFW Post #753, American Legion Post #26, Golden K Kiwanis, Bishop Ryan Booster Club, all of Minot. He enjoyed golfing, baseball, and he loved the outdoors. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. His favorite thing was being together with his family and many friends. Surviving family includes: sons, Michael (Jane) Marum, Mandan, Joel Marum, Phoenix, AZ, Randy (Barb) Marum, Fargo, and Brian (Linda) Marum, Woodbury, MN; daughters, Vickie (Brian) Kramer, Ritzville, WA, and Jacqueline (Ron) Rustad, Garrison; 12 grandchildren, Tad Fink, Troy Fink, and Tera (Jason) Fetch; Miranda, Colin, Tyler and Connor Marum; Jared, and Justin Rustad; Jennifer (Kristian) Boness, Lindsey (Alan) Hille, and Kristin Kramer; 4 great-grandchildren, Brody Boness, Makenzie, Emma, and Lily Fetch; brother, Robert (Eleanor) Marum, Kirkland, WA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; daughter, Sherry Fink; stepgrandson, Jeremy Rustad; and brother, Leonard "Shorty" Marum. Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, October 3, 2008,
