Florence Martin 1912 - 2002

Florence Martin, 90, 600 South Main St., Minot, died Monday, November 25, 2002, in a Minot nursing home.

Florence was born October 13, 1912, in McHenry, ND, in Eddy County and Paradise Township , the daughter of Nicholas and Ida Haehn. While still very young she moved with her parents to Heaton, ND, Wells County. She attended grade and high school there and graduated from Heaton High School in 1932. She also received at that time, a diploma for piano music from a private teacher.

She was united in marriage to Reuben Martin in Bemidji, MN in 1937. They lived and farmed in the Fessenden area, where they raised their three children. They later lived in Coleharbor, ND, later in Minot, then Illinois and Brookline, MA, retiring in Minot in 1975. Reuben died in 1984, and Florence continued to live in Minot and in 1999 entered ManorCare Health Service where she since had lived.

Florence was a one time member of the Church of God in Bowdon, ND, the Missionary Society and the Progress Homemakers. Later in Minot she was a member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene, Minot. After her retirement she was creator and maker of many crafts.

Survivors: Daughter, Myrna Crampton, Minot; son, Ed Zuern, Bismarck; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Lange, Hurdsfield, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Gary Martin; daughter, Claudette McDaniel; four grandchildren, Peggy Shepherd, Rickey McDaniel and Jeff and Rick Horgeshimer and her parents.

Funeral: Saturday, November 30, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., at Southside Church of the Nazarene, Minot.

Visitation: Friday, November 29, 2002, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND, and Saturday one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
