Donald Martin 1922 - 2005 Donald Martin, 83, Lisbon, formerly of Minot, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 in a Lisbon hospital. Donald was born on March 21, 1922 in Wolford, ND, the son of Charles and Myrtle (Kane) Martin. He was reared and educated in the Wolford area. Attending school through the eighth grade, when he went to assist his parents with the operation of the farm. On October 13, 1942, Donald entered the United States Army. During his service he received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory medal. He was honorably discharged on February 12, 1946. Following his discharge from the Army, Donald enlisted into the Army National Guard, on October 17, 1949. He served with the National Guard until his honorable discharge on October 16, 1952. Donald was united in marriage to Lyla Helen Harmel in Rugby, on October 16, 1948. The couple made their home in Minot, where Donald worked and retired from SRT in Minot. Lyla passed away on October 10, 1991. Donald was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Minot. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Wayne and Jim. Visitation: Friday, September 9, 2005 from noon until 7:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
