Alberta M. Marfell 1925 - 2007 Alberta Mary Keyes was born January 3, 1925 in Pekin, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Plotner) Keyes. She was raised and educated in Pekin and graduated from Pekin High School in 1943. Following graduation she worked at Caterpillar Tractor in Peoria, Ill., in the accounting department. Alberta married Donald Frederic Marfell on August 28, 1948. They resided in Peoria for a few years before moving to Sunnyland, where they lived until 2002, when they moved to Minot to be near their family. Donald passed away on March 15, 2004. Alberta was a member of Sunnyland Christian Church for 42 years. During this time she was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship of the church. She served as a deaconess in the church and sang in the church choir. Alberta loved music and sang in several school district variety shows. Alberta was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts and was a room mother while her daughters were attending school. She was also kept busy getting her daughters to their sporting events. She loved bowling and was active in a bowling league while living in Illinois. Alberta loved to visit and also helping people. Those who shared in her life: Daughters, Jan (Rick) Hartle, Grano, ND, and Joan (John) Caughron, Chanhassen, MN; three grandchildren, Jimmy and his wife, Megan, Jennifer and Jeremy Caughron; sister-in-law, Sharon Bennett and family of Rohnert Park, California. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; an infant grandson, Jonathan Caughron, and her parents. Funeral: Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pioneer Chapel of First Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation: Wednesday, from noon to service time at the Pioneer Chapel of First Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Memorials are preferred to the Trinity Homes Foundation in Minot or Sunnyland Christian Church or Northern Tazewell Fire and Rescue in Sunnyland.
