Irene Manz • 1924 - 2011 Irene was born on November 12, 1924, at Lincoln Valley, ND, the daughter of John and Mary (Stubert) Burkart and was reared and educated there. In her younger years, Irene worked at the Patterson Hotel in Bismarck before moving back to the Lincoln Valley area. On July 1, 1945, in the Sheridan County School House, she married Bennie Manz. They spent their entire married lives on the family farm in Byersville Township, McLean County ,where they engaged in small grain and dairy farming. Bennie died on May 20, 2000 and she continued to live on the farm until moving into the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake several years ago. She is survived by her son, Terry, Mercer; sister, Betty (John F.) Rosenau, Tuttle, ND; sisters-in-law, Delores Burkart, Minot, Litwina Stanfield, Mpls, MN. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sister, brothers, Reinhold, Walter, Gust and Oscar. Funeral: St. Paul Lutheran Church, Butte, ND on 11 a.m. at Saturday, April 23, 2011 . Burial: McClusky Community Cemetery, McClusky, ND
