Donald F. Malcomb, 92, Minot, formerly of Berthold, ND, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 in a Minot nursing home.

Donald was born in Lignite, ND, to Walter and Viola Malcomb on August 1, 1915. Shortly after his birth they moved to a farm located Southwest of Berthold, in Evergreen Township, Ward County, ND. He attended rural school in Evergreen Township until the 6th grade. As a young man he worked for area farmers in the Tagus and Blaisdell area. In the late twenties he joined the CCC and was stationed at the International Peace Gardens where he helped build the formal gardens of the now International Peace Gardens.

He married Lillian Bloom on October 10, 1940, in Sidney, MT. They moved to the west coast for a short time and then moved back to North Dakota and in 1943 rented a farm in Shealy Township Southwest of Berthold. In 1945, he purchased the existing farm site in Shealy Township. They lived and farmed there until 1978 when they retired and moved to Minot, purchasing a home on 14 Ave SE. He lived there until 2000 when he sold this home and moved to Dakota Terrace apartments until October 2004. From there he went to the Stanley Nursing Home and in February of 2005 he went to Trinity Nursing Home. He then went to Edgewood Vista assisted living facility in Southeast Minot until 2006 when he again entered Trinity Nursing Home and resided there until his death.

He was a member of the Shealy Township school board, Shealy Township Board, Zion Lutheran Church in Minot, and a life long member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Minot.

He enjoyed his life long career of farming, spending time with his family and friends, and dancing at the Moose. He was extremely proud of his daughter, son, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Lily (John) Rogers, Berthold; son, Donny L. Malcomb, Berthold; grandchildren, Tria Rogers, Antelope, CA, Tami (Mark) Pevey, Sultan, WA, Trenton (Kristina) Rogers, Sultan, WA, Aaron Malcomb, Bellingham, WA; step-grandchildren, Andrea Malcomb, Denver, CO, Stephen (Sheryl) Campbell, Fairmount, ND, and William Campbell, New Town, ND; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Malcomb, Klamath Falls, OR; and sister, Dora Bloom, Minot. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; infant son, Donald Malcomb Jr; parents, Viola and Walter Malcomb; brothers, Elmer and Durward Malcomb; and sister, Bernice Sessing.

Visitation: Thursday, November 15, 2007 from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral: Friday, November 16, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
