Morris Madsen 1921 - 2007 Morris was born on April 6, 1921, the son of Nels P. and Ingeborg (Lein) Madsen on the family farm near Ruso, ND. He was reared and educated in the Ruso area attending country schools. His father died when Morris was twelve years old, so Morris took over the operations of the farm. On November 18, 1942, he enlisted into the United States Army at Ft. Snelling, MN. He proudly served his country during WW II's Battles of the Bulge, Rhineland, Ardennes and in Central Europe. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, EAME Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Clasp, American Theater Ribbon and the WW II Victory Medal Ribbon. He was honorably discharged December 4, 1945 at Separation Point Camp, Bowie, TX. Following his discharge, he returned to North Dakota and worked at the Truax Coal Mine. Morris was united in marriage to Lois Ann Riba on March 23, 1954 in Minot, ND. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in the Strawberry Lake area, southeast of Ruso, ND. Along with farming, Morris also drove school bus for Ruso and Butte for 17 years. They retired in 1988 when they moved to Minot. Lois died April 25, 1990. He continued to live in Minot and was a member of the Butte American Legion and the Minot Moose Lodge, where enjoyed attending the various dances held at the lodge. He also enjoyed walking at the Dakota Square Shopping Center and having coffee at the Schatz Econostop. Morris is survived by: Sons: Tom (Linda) Madsen, Minot,
and Donald (Kay) Madsen, Minot; Morris was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson Seth Schatz, brothers Palmer Madsen, Ned Madsen and sister Gena Sheelar. Visitation: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Prayer Service: Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Funeral Service: Thursday, June 28, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Benedict, ND Burial: Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Ruso Community Cemetery, Ruso, ND. Officiant: Rev.
