Robert Lystvedt 1921 - 2003

Robert Lystvedt, 81, 805 24th Ave SW, Minot, died Saturday in a Minot nursing home.

He was born on April 13, 1921, in Divide County, North Dakota to Peter and Minnie (Sillerud) Lystvedt. He was reared and educated in Divide County. He later married Charlotte Atol and they made their home in Williston. Robert enlisted in the United State Army and served during World War II. He was wounded in Munich Germany two days before VE Day and received a Purple Heart. Upon his honorable discharge from the United States Army, Robert joined the police force in Williston, where he served as lieutenant. He served as Chief of Police in Northwood, Watford City, Mohall and Bottineau. While living in Minot, he worked with the Boeing Company in the police and fire department and later went to work at First Bank until he retired.

He was a member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church, Wildrose. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Peace Officers. Robert was an avid baseball fan and loved to fish and play pinochle.

Survivors: Wife, Charlotte Lystvedt and daughter, Sandy Lystvedt, both of Minot; sisters-in-law, Edith Morrison, Lenora Pederson and Darlene Atol, all of Williston and Sophie Myhre, Minot; brother-in-law, George Atol and his wife Myrtle, Williston and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Carl and Palmer Pederson and his sister, Myrtle Dalin.

Funeral: Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Williston.

Visitation: Monday from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Everson Funeral Home, Williston and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Riverview Cemetery, Williston, ND.
