Joyce L. Gettleman-Luhr 1930 - 2010 Joyce Gettleman was born on August 4, 1930, a daughter of Roy and Edna (Bolstad) Gettleman in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1948. She furthered her education, graduating from Trinity School of Nursing in 1951. Joyce began a career with Trinity Hospital right after graduation. She worked in several positions, including Director of Nursing Services, retiring in 1984 after 33 years of service. Joyce was very dedicated to her career and had a true love for her work, working many holidays enabling staff members to spend time with their families. She devoted many years to caring for her mother. In the fall of 1983, Joyce met Clarence “Bud” Luhr while on vacation in Mesa, AZ. They were married on September 22, 1984 at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. They spent their summers in Minot, where they enjoyed the summer theater performances at Minot State University, Arts in the Park, the Tomato Festival, the Hostfest and numerous other cultural events in the Minot area. They wintered in Mesa. They loved to travel and went on several cruises. Bud died January 13, 2007. Joyce was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Minot and The Mouse River Nurses Association. Those who shared in her life: Sister: June Leverson, Whitefish, MT, nieces, Diane (Larry) Oddy, Bozeman, MT; Julie (Jim) Shanafelt, Tumwater, WA; nephews Bruce (Edna) Leverson, Highland Ranch, CO; Brian (Sheila) Leverson, Seattle, WA; Mike (Luann) Leverson, Richland, WA; primary attending family member, cousin, Cal & Lee Clouse, Minot; care-giver/ companion Jo Kjonaas, Minot Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 22 years, Clarence “Bud” Luhr. Visitation: Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 2 until 7 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 2 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot with burial to follow at Rosehill Memorial park, Minot. Memorial Service: Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 10 am at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot.
