Isabelle I. Luchsinger
1919 - 2009 Isabelle I. Nelson was born March 17, 1919, a daughter of Axel and Caroline (Halvorson) Nelson, on the family farm near Parshall, ND. She was raised on the family farm and educated in Parshall, ND. She graduated from Parshall High School. She then attended Minot State Teachers College, where she received her standard teaching certificate. She began her teaching career in Plaza, where she taught First and Second grades. She later taught in Lignite, New Town, and various other schools in the state of ND. Isabelle married Charles H. Luchsinger October 27, 1944, in Sidney, MT. Isabelle and her husband, Charles farmed in the Parshall area for over 50 years. Charles passed away June 19, 2000. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Parshall and its ladies aid group. She was also a member of the Parshall American Legion. She was currently a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband, Charles, and reading in her later years. Together they enjoyed entertaining family and friends in the early years of their marriage. She also enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, and her card parties. Surviving family includes: son, Ward (Betty Ann) Luchsinger, Sherwood, ND; daughter, Laurel Luchsinger, Lansford, ND; one granddaughter; LeAnn Luchsinger, Minot; brother, Wallace (Mary Ann) Nelson, Parshall; nephews, Don and Timothy Nelson; niece, Caroline Nelson; and cousins. Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brothers, Clarence Nelson; and an infant brother, Orville Nelson. Memorial Service: Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 11:00
