Thomas H. Lovdahl 1899 - 2003 Thomas H. Lovdahl, 103, Minot, formerly of Plaza, ND, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 in a Minot nursing home. Thomas was born September 25, 1899 in Telemark Norway, to Halvor and Sigrud (Moen) Lovdahl. He was one of eight children who came with his parents from Norway to North Dakota. His family settled on a homestead northwest of Plaza, ND. He attended country school for several years, and helped with the family farm. On March 16, 1929, he married Esther Clouston. They lived and farmed near Plaza until 1946. They moved to Minot and lived there during the winters while maintaining their farming interests. Thomas started the Lovdahl and Myhre Real Estate office in Minot, and operated that business for several years. They lived in northwest Minot for many years. His wife, Esther, died on November 12, 1980. Thomas continued to live in his residence, 806 4th Ave. NW, until June of 1999, when he entered Trinity Homes and lived there until the time of his death. Thomas was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Minot and attended Shell Creek Lutheran Church, rural Plaza, while living on the farm. He was also a former member of the Sons of Norway, the Moose Lodge, the Eagles Aerie and the Elks Lodge, all of Minot. He was a very kind man who loved to fish, play cards, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Survivors: Daughter, Janice Miller and her companion, Joseph Tavis; 9 grandchildren, Jerilyn Lowe, Bryan, Thomas and John Miller, Joe and Ryan Prater, Erik, Edward and Kurt Lovdahl; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. His wife, Esther Lovdahl; son, Gerald Lovdahl; daughter, LaRae Prater; 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and son-in-law Jerome Miller preceded him in death.
