Arlowene Rose Lochthowe, 79, Norwich, died Monday, January 1, 2007 in a Minot hospital.

Arlowene Rose Kocher was born April 18, 1927, the youngest child of Henry and Lena (Robbins) Kocher in Minot, ND. She was raised and attended school in Bergen and Butte, ND, and later moved with her family to Minot, where she graduated from Minot High School in 1947.

On June 21, 1947, Arlowene married James Lochthowe at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. Following their marriage they raised their family, farmed and lived their entire lives on the family farm near Norwich, ND.

Arlowene loved gardening and enjoyed canning in the fall. She loved putting puzzles together and enjoyed playing cards with her family, grandchildren and their friends. She was a caregiver to her children, while raising them, but also took care of her mother for many years at her home until she passed away. She was the designated pitcher for the family softball games and enjoyed spending time with her family. Arlowene loved to fish and went on several fishing trips to Canada with her family. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Eagles Aerie and Moose Lodge with her husband James.

Survivors: Husband of 60 years, James, Norwich; children, Marilynn (Arvid) Reimann, Janice (Tom) Hinzpeter, Richard (Leona) Lochthowe, Bev (Paul) Bauer, and Sandra Poole, all of Minot, David Lochthowe, Williston, Diane Voight, Jamestown, and Lloyd (Roxane) Lochthowe, Norwich; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donna Lochthowe, Minot, Elaine Dosch, Minot, John (Mildred) Lochthowe, Minot, Clara (Bill) Klein, Norwich, and Margie (Tom) Kirkhope, Toledo, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral: Friday, January 5, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, and from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at St. Leo's Catholic Church.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
