Shirley Link 1935 - 2007 Shirley J. Wiese was born on June 5th, 1935, the daughter of Kenneth and Leona (Teff) Wiese in Hokah, MN. She was raised in Hokah and educated at St. Peter's Grade and High School where she participated in the Minnesota Girls State and graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1953. Shirley graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1956 and began a long career of serving others. While living in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Shirley met Luverne "Vern" Link. They were married on January 4, 1958, in Hokah, Minnesota, and made their home in LaCrescent, Minnesota. In April 1959, a son, Kurt, was born. In 1960 the family moved to Minot where Shirley was a homemaker until Kurt began school. She returned to work at Medical Arts Clinic in 1965 working with Drs. John Smolenski and Julie Blehm until retiring in 1992. Following her retirement, Shirley continued to serve the community with her involvement at St. John's Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Nursing Home Service and her work at the Dakota Boys Ranch. Shirley and her family were long-time members of both Little Flower Catholic Church and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Shirley enjoyed camping and summers at Rice Lake with family and friends, bowling, playing pinochle, going to all her son's ball games and caring for her plants and flowers. In her retirement years she loved having lunch with her friends from Medical Arts and walking with her close friends. She especially cherished visits with her grandson, Jaden, who was the light of her life. Shirley is survived by her son, Kurt Link of Bismarck; her grandson, Jaden Link; her brothers, Richard Wiese, Oceanside, CA, Robert (Joann) Wiese, Williamstown, NJ, Steve (Barbara) Wiese, Eagan, MN, Gary (Peggy) Wiese, LaCrescent, MN, and Ken (Barbara) Wiese, Brownsville, MN; her sisters, Elaine Tschumper, Stanchfield, MN, Mary (Joe) Vernaci, Vista, CA, Louella (Bob) Becker, Hokah, MN, and Carol (Jim) Mauss, Hokah, MN. She had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that also survive. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Leona Wiese; her husband, Vern; and brother, Curtis. Special friends who shared in her life are David and Cindy Romine, Bismarck, Molla Romine and her late husband, Bob, Minot; and Tina Brown, Minot. Funeral Service: Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at 10:30
a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, St. John's Catholic Church, Minot, Bishop Ryan High School, Minot, or Minot Catholic Schools Foundation, Minot.
