Sera Linke 1929 - 2010

Sera Linke, 81, Minot, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 in a Minot nursing home.

Sera was born January 17, 1929 in Ankara, Turkey.  As young girls Sera and her sister were separated from their family as a result of World War II. At the age of 21 she arrived on the shores of New York City, as a displaced person with only the clothes on her back and her beautiful smile.  She made her way to Minot, ND and was able to find a job at a local café.

One day the love of her life, Henry Linke walked through the door, he was a native of North Dakota.  On October 16, 1951 Sera married Henry Linke in Dickinson, ND.  They made their home near Sawyer, ND, where they farmed and ranched until the late 60’s when they moved to Minot.  While in Minot they developed Holiday mobile home park, and later Holiday Village mobile home park.  After 45 years of marriage Sera lost her beloved husband on November 6, 1997.  Mrs. Linke continued to run Holiday Village until her retirement in 2006.

She will be remembered as a tough as nails business woman with a heart of gold.  She was generous to the needy, kind to the lowly and a no nonsense woman.  Those of us who had the honor of knowing her well will miss her generous heart, her warm laugh and beautiful face.

Those who shared in her life:  Mrs. Linke is survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.

Visitation:  Thursday, July 1, 2010, from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Graveside service:  A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Minot Domestic Violence Crisis Center Inc., P.O. Box 881, Minot, ND 58702.
