Ida (Stave) Lindlauf 1909 - 2011 Ida Stave was born on August 6, 1909, a daughter of Peder A. and Clara S. (Bergan) Stave, on her mother, Clara Bergan’s homestead, located 2 ½ miles NW of Benedict. She was raised on the family farm and educated at Benedict school. She graduated from Minot High School in 1928. Ida was employed by McLean County Social Services in Washburn, ND, and later by a mercantile store in Kongsberg, ND. Ida was united in marriage to Hans T. Lindlauf on October 2, 1940, in Benedict, ND. They made their home in Velva, ND, for a short time, and later at Truax Trayer Coal Mine for a time, before moving to Bremerton, WA, where she worked in the Naval Shipyards. They later returned to North Dakota and made their home on a farm located in Andrews Township of McLean County, NW of Benedict. They farmed small grains and livestock for 18 years. During the winter months between 1957 and 1960, they lived in Wahpeton, ND, where Hans taught at the State School of Science. Hans passed away on October 23, 1960. Following her husband’s death, Ida continued to reside on the farm until moving to Minot, where she was the house mother at Dakota Lutheran Academy for a year. She then moved to southern California, where she worked in home health care for a short time, before moving to Seattle, WA, where she worked in home health care as well. She then returned to Minot, where she was the house mother at Trinity School of Nursing for a couple of years. Ida was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Benedict, where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the McWard Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and gardening. Ida is survived by: sons, Palmer (Helen) Lindlauf, Benedict, ND; and Curtis (Susan) Lindlauf, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Jerry Lindlauf (Heidi Ehr), Mark (Shelly) Lindlauf, Jackie (Paul) Jacobson, and Paula (Marlo) Huesers; eight great-grandchildren, Christina, Jacob, and Cheyenne Jacobson; Whitney, McKayla, and Cassidy Huesers; and Tia and Christa Lindlauf; sister, Pauline Mason, Seattle, WA; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Mae Lindlauf. Ida was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers-in-law, Edwin, Walter, and Carl Lindlauf; and Frants Frantsen; and sister-in-law, Nina Frantsen.
