Laura Lindblad 1928 - 2002 Laura Lindblad, 73, Minot formerly of Kenmare, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, in a Minot nursing home. Laura was born May 3, 1928, in Norma, ND, the daughter of Norman and Mae (Petersen) St. Croix. She was raised and educated in that area. She married William B. Kalmbach on July 15, 1945, on the family farm in Burke County, ND. They lived and farmed in Burke County on the east side of the lake. William died July 19, 1957. On November 9, 1958 she married Ray Lindblad. They also farmed in Burke and Renville Counties. Ray died April 1, 1977. Laura sold Stanley Products for several years. In 1980 she opened Laura's Lanes bowling alley in Kenmare. In 1991 she moved to Minot and entered Trinity Nursing Home in 1992. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and was Past President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #7049. Laura served on the Meals and Wheels Committee which purchased the "Blue Goose", which was a bus they purchased from the Minot Air Force Base. Survivors: Daughter, Susan Jessen and her husband, Robert, Kenmare; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Karla (Tom) Tysver, Bismarck; Kathy (Larry) Bryant and their children, Katelynn and Brandon Bryant, Lignite; Steve (Lisa) Zacharias and their children, Laura and Ty Zacharias, Garrison; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Penn (Corrin) Westberg, Mandan, and their children, Nickolas Westberg of Pearl City, HA, Shane Westberg of Moorhead, MN and Jarret and Zackery, of Mandan; Kenny Jessen and companion Tracey Stoller and their children, Tyler and Chantel Jessen and Laura and Sabrina Stoller, all of Mandan; Lee (Konnie) Olson, Arvada, CO, Brian (Kayla) Jessen and their daughter, Brenna Jessen, Mandan; brothers, Lloyd (Beverly) St. Croix, Ft. Collins, CO; Norman "Lee" St. Croix, Mandan; sisters, Dorothy Nelson, Seattle, WA, Ardell Berg, Donnybrook, Ramona (Sherman) Brandt, Upham, and Marjorie Rogers, New Salem; many nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William B. Kalmbach and Ray Lindblad; son, William N. Kalmbach; son-in-law, Steve Zacharias; step great granddaughter, JoAnn Jessen; her parents and brothers-in-law, Virgil Nelson, Allen Berg and Merlin Rogers; and a niece, Darla Erdman. Memorial Service: Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot, ND. There will be no visitation or reviewal, friends may sign the register one hour prior to the service at Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot, ND. Burial: A private burial will take place at Rosehill Cemetery, Norma, ND. |
